International Congress of Psychology 2016
The 31st International Congress of Psychology was held in Yokohama, Japan, from 24 – 29 July this year at the impressive PACIFICO Yokohama Convention Centre. PhD candidate Lea-Ann Pileggi presented some of her PhD data in conjunction with work from a pilot study by Tamsyn Naylor (current MA candidate). Lea-Ann’s PhD centres on the relationship between empathy and aggression in children and adolescents, and investigates factors that are important for understanding this relationship more clearly. The factor under the spotlight in this presentation was callous-unemotional traits. These traits are the hallmark of adult psychopathy, and understanding their importance in developmental models of aggression is crucial.
